These amazing students went through an application and interview process, demonstrating their commitment to living the 7 Habits and showing what leadership looks like in action. Their voices, ideas, and dedication will help guide and inspire our entire school community throughout the year.

All Kindergarten through 2nd-grade students will be dismissed from the gym. Students in grades 3–5 will dismiss as usual. If a student in grades K–2 has an older sibling in grades 3–5, the sibling will also go to the gym for dismissal.

📢 Kindergarten Families
There will be no school for Kindergarten students on Friday, August 29th.
On this day, we will be doing make-up ASQs (Ages & Stages Questionnaires).
If your child has not completed their ASQ, you will receive a call with a scheduled time for them to come in on Friday, August 29th.
👉 If you have other children in grades 1–5, they WILL attend school as usual.

🌻 The night before the first day of school… and we can hardly sleep! 🌻

Sunflower families, we are so excited to have your students back in the building tomorrow! 🎉

We’ve set up Back-to-School photo spots in both the front and back of the building for those first-day memories. 📸 If you’re using the back photo spot, please park in the lot (not the drive-through drop-off lane) so everyone can get in and out safely.

After pictures, hand your kiddos off to us at the door — we’ve got it from here! 💛

A few important reminders: Shorts and skirts must be fingertip length. Tank tops and spaghetti straps are not allowed. We appreciate your support in helping students stay comfortable and focused while following our school dress code! 🚗 Student Pickup & Emergency Contact Info Please take a moment to double-check your child’s emergency contact list and authorized pickup information. If there have been any changes—new phone numbers, new people allowed to pick up your child—make sure the front office has the most up-to-date info. Your help keeps dismissal safe and smooth—thank you!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: USD 480 Officials and Law enforcement have been made aware of a large number of “Swatting” incidents expected throughout the country tomorrow, Thursday, October 3, 2024. “Swatting” is making severe false reports to authorities intended to cause fear and apprehension. These false reports may occur at Schools, Businesses, and Individual homes. It's crucial to be aware and prepared. At approximately 9:40 this morning, Sunflower Elementary initiated an Emergency Alert when they became aware of a small electrical fire in the kitchen. Out of an abundance of caution all students were evacuated to Bright Start. At this time there is no immediate threat to staff or students and everyone has safely returned to their classrooms. We want to thank local law enforcement, EMS, and Fire Department for their quick and effective response.
